Love this, Melissa (especially “otter pockets”)! Such a simple way to show appreciation for and commune with our organic kin. Love ‘em up a bit! And your altars are always just beautiful - the relationship you tend is apparent. What is your process for undoing the altar plate?
It is such an interesting question about the undoing process! Because this is an ongoing altar for me, to my workings… it lives and breathes as I do (and that is largely with the moon cycles). There are times when it gets a sprucing-up - fresh stones, shells, and the items that are removed find sacred place on my larger altars to rejuvenate under the waxing and waning moon’s light. As I create new altars for each moon cycle, at the new moon – different things call to me with alchemized purpose and might at that time, be moved to the expanded altar. It is then that I check in with what may need rejuvenating, cleansing, rest, and what may want to join. It often feels like a scavenger hunt in my own surroundings, a time when I can feel the rumblings of the medicine the treasures hold and where they are with willingness to share it. What posture they are wanting to take. So, it is an ever-green altar plate.
~ I suppose the answer is this ^ & it is all sort of organic too, like selecting a favorite sweater or socks from the wardrobe.
